3 simple recipes for Vegan Pizza toppings
Written by Leigh-Chantelle
Created Thursday, 15 March 2012

I've just uploaded a new video featuring 3 easy to prepare, vegan, pizza topping ideas. I'm not much of a fan of cheese and much prefer to use soy cream cheese spread on the base rather than cheese completely covering the top of a pizza. Here's my pizzas (click on each photo to take you to the video, or see below)

Mediterranean Pizza:

For the Mediterranean Pizza I used tomatoes, basil, sesame seeds, soy cream cheese and cracked black pepper.

Animated film Plague Dogs: vivisection & liberation
Written by Leigh-Chantelle
Created Friday, 24 February 2012

There's a great animated film from 1982 The Plague Dogs based on the the 1977 novel of the same name by Richard Adams. This film was directed by Martin Rosen who also directed Watership Down - another animated film based on Richard Adam's novel. A friend of mine drew my attention to this film due to the fact that vivisection and animal cruelty are main messages in the story.

A lyrical, engrossing tale, Richard Adams creates a lyrical and engrossing tale, a remarkable journey into the hearts and minds of two canine heroes, Snitter and Rowf, fugitives from the horrors of an animal research center who escape into the isolation - and terror - of the wilderness. Another Veg Restaurant in Mount Gravatt: Su Life
Written by Leigh-Chantelle
Created Friday, 27 January 2012

There's another vegetarian restaurant in Brisbane's Southside that recently opened: Su Life located at Palmdale Shopping Centre: 2120 Logan Road, Upper Mount Gravatt. Su Life is another Asian-style restaurant that started as Hu Fo that was open in Sunnybank until February 2011. Ange and I went there to check it out last Thursday plus had a great time exploring Palmdale. We both chose an entree/starter and a main meal each and shared them.

We started with Ange's choice, the Golden Pancakes AU$5:

NOTE: As of 11 March 2012 after dinner here again last night, I enquired about the white sauce used in the meal above. The staff member said it was from soy milk and condensed milk (!!) I explained that this was not vegan. Make sure you ask for no white sauce if you order the above entree/starter.

Love Us by not Eating Us - Art as Activism

I was inspired to be creative and create some art that could be used for marketing the vegan message when I heard about the PaperGirl Brisbane great idea of free art to random people delivered by bicycle. Here's how it works:

  1. Collect artwork and writing.
  2. Exhibit all the submitted pieces of work.
  3. Deliver all the work to random people via bicycle.
