Viva La Vegan!
Last year, I received an advanced copy of Dr Michael Greger's (of Nutrition Facts) book, How Not To Die thanks to his publisher Flatiron Books. I had a quick flick through the book before my interstate travels and was impressed with the depth and quantity of information throughout the book. Michael's sense of humour comes through, which gives a great break from the info. I thoroughly recommend this massive book. Here's an interview I did recently with Michael:

Why did you decide to write your book?
I’ve recorded more than 1,000 videos for, each offering snapshots of some of the most interesting cutting-edge science, but I wanted to created a more coherent whole. How Not to Die has enabled me to wrap up decades of groundbreaking discoveries in one place. The book represents my life’s work—work I’ve distilled into about 600 pages. And instead of just reviewing the latest science, this book has also allowed me the opportunity to lay out all my personal recommendations (based on the preponderance of available evidence).
What do you hope to achieve with the release?
The bottom-line is that I want readers to realize that we have tremendous power over our health destiny. The vast majority of premature death and disability can be prevented with healthy lifestyle changes, including a diet centered around whole plant foods. We have the power!
What has the response been like so far?
So far, it's been beyond my wildest dreams, ranking in the top 10 for for presales, and then was an instant New York Times best seller.
What are your future plans?
I plan to continue recording new videos for my website, In addition, I'm on tour most of next year - more than 50 cities and 5 countries! I hope I can make it to Australia sometime soon!
How long did the book take to make from creation of recipes to release?
Over a year!
What other people helped you with the book?
I had a co-author, Gene Stone, and an amazing crew of volunteers who did everything from edit the book to taste test recipes and photograph those recipes. By the way, I'm always looking for volunteer power - if you have a couple of hours a week to spare, please This email address is being protected from spambots.
