Viva La Vegan!
Emaline Delapaix is an Australian singer songwriting living in Berlin with her adopted Canadian kitty companion Reece. She will be performing a couple of vegan dinner concerts in Melbourne and Adelaide in early March and took some time out to answer a few questions. These will be her first Australian concerts in over 10 years since moving abroad. Emaline is happy to be doing these little vegan concerts in Australia as part of her tour schedule

How long have you been performing?
I have been performing as a singer/songwriter in bands since late 2000 as a hobby/side thing with a job at the time. In 2010 I decide to pack my crappy day job in Toronto in and give music a real go so I began teaching myself to play guitar, piano and later baby celtic harp and have been a full time musician ever since living in Germany.

What/who are your musical influences?
My main musical influences include Kate Bush, Tori Amos, the Finn Brothers (Crowded House/Split Enz), Nina Simone, Ani Difranco, Richard Shindell and lots of Scandinavian music.

What does veganism mean to you?
Veganism means that I don't contribute to the suffering of animals and help spread the word so that others can do the same and still live healthy, happy, tasty lives.

Do you speak about being vegan in your songs? Why or why not?
I speak about all aspects of my life and do have a few songs where I mention it including 'Some of Us' which is purely an animal rights song but my music reflects all I am so it makes sense that there are many themes running through the music from animal rights, depression, travel, love, sexuality etc.
